The energy consultant met with the homeowner and did his due diligence to found out exactly how under-insulated the home was. To measure the insulation in the wall, the consultant used a thermal imaging gun. This showed that all of the exterior walls were purple, meaning empty of insulation. Even though wall insulation was the primary concern of the homeowner, the energy consultant checked the attic and found that there was very little insulation, only around R-20 worth. The consultant sat with the homeowner and shared his findings. The homeowner was shocked to find out that his attic was under-insulated as well, but thankful that it was checked out. The energy consultant recommended we insulate the whole home with RetroFoam injection foam and TruSoft cellulose. RetroFoam is is a tripolymer resin that is used on existing walls and does not require any demolition. TruSoft is a densely packed, blown-in cellulose that stops drafts from getting through. The homeowner was thankful to have plenty of options to go over to fix his under-insulated home.
