Cellulose Added to Old Home in Euclid, OH
Challenge
Insulation had been low on the priority list for this homeowner in Euclid, OH. After owning and living in the home for a couple of decades, she decided enough was enough. Her energy bills were getting higher every year and she was very cold during the winter months.
An energy consultant met with her during a free estimate and found that there was zero insulation in her attic. When this home was first built at least 50 years ago, the attic was used for livable space. Now, it just sat empty and let a lot of drafts into the home. The consultant sat down with the customer and explained that we could fix this issue in one, easy installation day. She was so ready to have a fully insulated attic.
Solution
On the day of the project, the team arrived and began by building an insulation wall. This allowed for walking room or storage in the attic without ruining the blown-in cellulose. Once that was put up, the team started installing TruSoft cellulose around the perimeter of the attic floor. TruSoft is a densely packed cellulose that is not only eco-friendly in material, but will also reject mold growth. The crew made sure to cover the attic with R-49, which is high enough to keep outside air away!
