Knee Walls of Above Ground Crawl Space Insulated in Berea, OH
Challenge
This homeowner was noticing the upstairs was not regulating temperatures as it should. Their home had an above ground, attic crawl space that was awkward in shape, dirty and lacked insulation. They knew they needed a solution to insulate this space, but didn't know where to start. After some research, they found that Primary Home Improvements was their local insulation expert. They spoke with our Customer Care Representative and was scheduled with a free in-home estimate.
On the day of the estimate, the energy consultant climbed into the crawl space to evaluate the state. He noticed there was some insulation, but it was sparsely laid and even strewn about on the floor. This was not conducive to a healthy, draft-resistant space. The energy consultant sat down with the customer and showed how we could insulate this odd space with batten insulation and also clean up the area so they could utilize it for storage. The customer was so excited to get the work done!
Solution
On the day of install, the attic crew arrived and began by cleaning the old insulation and debris from the crawl space. They created a blank canvas, so to speak, in order to insulate the area properly. Once done clearing the attic, the installers securely attached the batten insulation the walls. Batt insulation is a great solution for odd, small spaces like this because it offers enough R-Value to reduce heat transfer, stop drafts and even dampen sound between walls! The installers performed a final walkthrough of the work done and the homeowner was so thrilled that this crawl space was finally insulated and could be used for storage!
