Company History
When we say we're local, we mean it. Primary Home Improvements was started in 2021 by husband and wife, Mike and Mary. Mike and Mary are Cleveland natives and high school sweethearts. They wanted to build a company together that not only does high quality work for our community, but also a place where employees enjoy coming to work. They have a real focus on doing the right thing, while treating customers and employees like family. Their values are at the forefront of this organization.
Mike has worked in the home improvement industry since the age of 18. He has done various roles starting from Installer to Sales Rep, Sales Manager, GM and now Co-owner. Mike oversees Production and Sales at PHI. This is a great fit for his vast work experience, mechanical abilities and knowledge of construction.
Mary went back to school to finish her bachelor’s degree in her late 20s and discovered that after working in the business world for 10+ years, she really cared about topics like what makes an effective leader / business owner and how you can build a positive company culture. She took that passion and continued her education, graduating with her MBA from Berea’s Baldwin Wallace University in 2021. Combined with the tools she gained there and Mike’s extensive home improvement experience, PHI was born.
In her role as Co-owner, Mary oversees all the background “business stuff” that goes into running an organization and loves it. She enjoys things like a good spreadsheet / looking at the numbers and data, while Mike prefers to get out onsite with our installers and sales team. Mike and Mary have a great balance of skills and responsibilities that allow them to work effectively together and have brought the company success and growth.
Outside of work, Mike and Mary live in North Ridgeville with their daughter and what they lovingly refer to as the “dog farm”. After 18 years of knowing each other and different life journeys, they finally tied the knot in 2023. Since Mary is the one writing this, she’s going to go ahead and say it was the best day of Mike’s life. 😉
